Message from the USAID/India Mission Director - On this day, the 20th Anniversary of World AIDS Day, I would like to recognize the great strides taken by the leadership in India in combating the HIV/AIDS epidemic. While we remember all those we have lost due to this deadly disease, we also recognize the tremendous successes that have been accomplished since first HIV case was reported in India in1986, due to the leadership and political will demonstrated by the Government of India, in conjunction with the NGO and private sectors. LAUNCH OF A TOLL-FREE HIV/AIDS HELPLINE
USAID and Tata Business Support Services recently launched the Hello+ Helpline, a toll-free helpline that provides People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) with access to information and counseling from trained counselors. This sixteen hour a day, multi-lingual service can also directly connect the caller to a qualified healthcare provider or NGO if needed. Call Now at 1-800-419-2437.
 
LAUNCH OF A MUSIC VIDEO ON WORLD AIDS DAY
Responsibility can be fun! These are the lyrics of a new bollywood music video recently launched by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), and USAID to communicate and inspire young people to take responsibility for protecting themselves and leading the fight against HIV/AIDS. Youth icon Shaan sings the new song and noted writer Gulzar penned the lyrics.
